Stretching is not only for muscles but can improve blood flow to heart.

New Research published in The Journal of Physiology finds that 12 weeks of easy passive stretches improves blood flow by stretching arteries and decreasing artery stiffness…

Passive stretching can be done by anyone using gravity or another person. The changes that were found imply that this could help in the number one global disease , heart disease.

The group performed stretches 5 times a week for 12 weeks. They found that the blood flow in the lower leg and arm had increased blood flow and less stiffness was noticed in those areas.

This study may have implication for disease such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes as they have changes to blood flow due to an impaired vascular system.
